Nakovana – a plateau west of Vignje that has been continuously inhabited for more than 8,000 years. Archaeological evidence tells us that the first farmers in Europe lived here in the Neolithic, who were also oriented towards the sea and even communicated by sea routes with distant islands north of Sicily.
In antiquity, Nakovana was one of the most powerful Illyrian centers in southern Dalmatia, from which Queen Teuta ruled her kingdom.
Unfortunately, over time, there are few remains of the fortress “GRAD” from which Queen Teuta ruled southern Dalmatia.
